Platja d’Aro has lately turned into one of the tourists’ acclaimed destinations of Baix Empordà, with wide range of leisure and cultural activities.
On the one hand, its free time proposal offers a wide spectrum of possibilities, among which stand outs the privileged coastal front combined with small and charming coves for the lovers of the calmness. The commercial and nightlife in Platja d’Aro is concentrated in a plenty of establishments that turn this place into one of the most animated destinations in the Costa Brava.
Platja d’Aro has a privileged coasts perimeter. It is possible to choose from the most crowded and popular beaches, perfectly equipped with all the services that suit all kind of visitors, especially those who look for calmer and flat waters with fine sand beaches. The two most recognized are the beach Sa Conca and Platja d’Aro.
Another tempting alternative are the coves, tranquil spots surrounded with nature, like the coves of Pedrosa, Rovira or Vilaret. A very good option to admire the beauty of the sceneries is take a walk along a coastal footpath lightly elevated that goes from the cove Rovira up to the Calonge beach.
The vitality of the municipality is also reflected in the Carnival, an important celebration thanks to which the municipality became a part of the Carnival cities with the longest tradition in the world. Platja d’Aro also celebrates Beer festival in October and Medieval festival in August.
