Calling all sport-lovers!
On May 5th Benidorm is hosting the Second Ascent to the Cross. If you are not much into jogging, do not panic, there will first be a departure for hikers at 9am from the Town Hall, and then runners will start at 9.30am. All participants will have to do an 9,400 metres (10279yd 2.8951ft) itinerary. Below you may see the itinerary, which will start at the L’Aigüera Park, along the seafront, and up the Sierra Helada mountain. Undoubtedly, a beautiful tour.
As the hiking tour is not competitive, organisers will do a raffle of 5 umbrellas and 5 trip blankets.
The first 5 runners of each category to arrive will be given a trophy and presents (not specified, sorry!).
For those who might be interested in participating in the race, it is important to know that this one counts for the ‘Liga Running’ (Running League, www.ligarunning.com).
All participants will receive a commemorative bag with a T-shirt, a bottle and a tin of isotonic beverage, a chocolate bar courtesy of Adolfo Murillo, a Hero Muesly energetic bar, a broth packet and a bottle of water. And there will be food and beverages available at the finishing line.
Inscriptions are open until May 2nd. For hikers are of 8 Euros, and for runners it varies depending on whether runners would like to bring their own chips (8 Euros to participate), use one given by the organisers (10 Euros) or buy one (28 Euros). As from April 11th, prices for runners will increase 2 Euros.
Now fingers crossed for it to be fun and a great day weather-wise!
